Overview

Heinz and Fred, father (69) and son (25), live under one roof in the small village of Ahlsdorf in Mansfelder Land, in the heart of Germany. They are inseparable and inhabit a vast empire of steel and scrap metal. They have restored countless ancient broken machines to date. Tractors, cranes, excavators, airplanes, ships. Everywhere you look, there are signs of past and future work. But in all the individual parts lie new ideas, new tasks. Heinz and Fred breathe new life into the screws, cables, and metal sheets. They work without orders and without any intention of using the items. They get up together at six every morning and go to bed early in the evening after a hard day's work. There is a lot to do.
