Overview

Lidi has lived in America for thirty years. She has raised her son, John, elegantly, while she herself is just getting by. One day John doesn't even recognize her and Lidi returns home in sorrow. Then she learns that her father, who she thought was dead, is alive, but she refuses to acknowledge his daughter. John, overcome with grief, comes to Hungary to find his mother. His millionaire American fiancée is soon forgotten by Klári, the Hungarian postmistress, only she is supposed to marry the miller...
