When questions have no answer, it’s enough to have raised question marks. Objects of Karelian culture pass before us, but rather than an anthropological account, what emerges is the feeling of a ritual. An invocation of the border. Karelia is a region of the Russian Federation, on the border with Finland. Silence is a borderland between the dictionary and human nature. Every film is made of crossings: from one frame to the next, from the mind that conceives it to the customs checkpoint of the eyes.
